The Saint Vincent women's bowling team wrapped up the first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference round-robin tournament of the season with a 9-1 record, in a three-way tie for first place.

SVC opened the three-day event, which was held in Buffalo, New York, with a 128-pin victory over Mount Aloysius, 855-727. Next, the Bearcats defeated Penn State-Atoona by a score of 881-643, before squaring off with William Smith College to finish the first day of action. Going into the match, SVC had lost both meetings with WSC this season.Â
The Bearcats started the match with a 212-169 win in game one, opening a 43-pin lead. William Smith then won the next two games, 178-163 and 205-163 to take a 14-pin advantage into game four. SVC fought back with a 208-179 win, to regain the total-pin lead by 15 pins going into the final game. William Smith prevailed in that game, 185-181, but the Bearcats earned the match victory, 927-916.

Abby Justice led the team on day one with a 182.8 average, while
Daphne Stuber finished the day at 181.4.Â

Day two saw the Bearcats get off to a very slow start, as the team needed a spare in the 10
th frame of the final game by
Jackie Koehler to pull out a 745-733 win over Hilbert College. SVC then improved to 5-0 on the weekend with an 817-770 win over La Roche, and continued to improve their scores with an 867-746 win over Penn State-Behrend. The fourth match of the day turned out to be the team's best of the weekend, defeating Pitt-Bradford by a score of 986-880. The Bearcats ended the day with an 828-722 victory over Pitt-Greensburg.

Monique Koehler led the team on day two, averaging 194.2.

Taking an 8-0 record into the final day, the Bearcats were tested in the first match of the day by New Jersey City University. SVC had a 57-pin lead going into the final game, but the Gothic Knights started the final game with five consecutive strikes. The Bearcats managed to finish that game strong, and won total pins by a 32-pin margin, 961-929.

After a bye round, the Bearcats entered the final match of the day with a 9-0 record, but were unable to complete the tournament sweep. Facing Alvernia University, which entered with an 8-1 record, Saint Vincent won the first two games by scores of 165-161 and 179-164, but Alvernia cut into the gap with a 197-194 win in game three. Game four was the Bearcats' downfall, as they lost 201-143, giving Alvernia a 40+ pin advantage going to the last game.  Alvernia won the last game 205-198, taking the total pinfall by a 928-879 tally.

Saint Vincent, Alvernia and William Smith all finished the weekend with a 9-1 record in a three-way tie for first. The second conference round-robin of the season will take place the first weekend in February in North Brunswick, New Jersey, and the combined totals from both rounds will set the seeding for the conference tournament in March, with the top-6 teams facing off in Pittsburgh.
SVC is now 32-5 on the year, and will return to action on December 20 in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the Collegiate Shoot-Out.     Â
