The Saint Vincent men's bowling team wrapped up its regular season with the Ohio Bowling Conference Championship, held at Palace Lanes in Columbus, Ohio. The Bearcats finished sixth among a field of 16 teams.
The team was consistent, but unable to break the 1000-pin mark in the 5 traditional games that started the day. Opening with a 952, the team was led by junior
Michael Fekete's 235.
In game two, SVC shot a 993 score,with senior
Eddie Zuzak shooting a 250, and the rest of the team all finishing between 180-189. In game three, the team shot another 952 game, with Zuzak (235) and sophomore
Brandon Dunmire (222) recording the top scores.
The fourth game was the team's best, shooting a score of 998, with freshman
James Gatto (236) and junior
Alex Vickers (216) breaking the 200 mark. Finally, the team slipped to a 933 score in the fifth game, with Dunmire's 214 as the high game.
Dunmire led the way with a 1020 total over five games, finishing 19th overall with an average of 204, followed by Zuzak, just one pin behind at 1019 (21st, 203.8). After the traditional games, SVC was sitting in fourth place, with a team average of 193.1.
The day concluded with 12 Baker team games, and the Bearcats averaged 186.1 for the block, falling to sixth place behind tournament champion Muskingum University.
With the sixth place finish, the Bearcats have wrapped up their regular season and will await the results of other tournaments taking place this coming weekend. SVC is currently 53rd in points in the United States Bowling Congress collegiate standings, well within the range to receive a bid to the Intercollegiate Team Championships, which will take place the weekend of March 11-12.
