TRAFFORD, Pa. (March 6) – After turning in a dominant performance in her first career start in the circle, Saint Vincent College freshman pitcher
Kiley Meek has been named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week.
In her collegiate debut at The Spring Games in Winter Haven, Florida, Meek (Holbrook, Pa./West Greene) earned the complete-game win in SVC's 5-1 victory over Concordia-Moorhead.
After allowing one run on three hits in the first inning, Meek settled in to allow just three hits and face four batters over the minimum over the final six frames. She struck out four and didn't allow a walk, completing the game having thrown just 89 pitches.
Meek is now the third teammate in two seasons to be named the PAC Rookie of the Week, as
Olivia Bushore was honored on March 7 of last year, and
Katelyn Stokan on April 11.
The Bearcats, who sit at 2-2 halfway through their season-opening Florida trip, will be back in action on Tuesday, March 7, facing off against Bluffton University at 9 a.m. in Auburndale.
