Bearcats Downed on the Road by Baldwin Wallace

WASHINGTON, Pa. (Nov. 9)- The Saint Vincent women's basketball team was defeated by nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace on Saturday afternoon by a score of 75-49.

The Bearcats (0-2) trailed by just one point at the half by a score of 32-31. Baldwin Wallace (1-1) went on to outscore Saint Vincent 43-18 in the second half.

Emily Thompson led the scoring attack for the Bearcats with 13 points and eight rebounds, shooting 2-6 behind the arc. Reese Gadsby scored eight points, with six of those eight points coming from the foul line.

Camdon Bashor and Danielle Pontius both scored six points in the loss for Saint Vincent, while Bashor also grabbed three rebounds and Pontius recorded two rebounds of his own.

It was back-and-forth the entirety of the first quarter as Thompson buried a three-pointer and Ashley Lippold followed with a free throw to cut the Yellow Jackets lead to 13-12 at the end of the first quarter. Saint Vincent came out hot from the field in the second half as they took a 16-14 lead after two successful free throws from Makenna Maier.

Saint Vincent quickly increased that lead to 23-18 and, before Baldwin Wallace outscored the Bearcats 14-8 over the final five minutes of the half as the Bearcats trailed 32-31 at the half.

It was all Baldwin Wallace in the third quarter as Saint Vincent was outscored 19-3 in the quarter. The Bearcats were held without a field goal in the quarter, with all three points coming from the foul line.

The Yellow Jackets were just as tough for SVC in the fourth quarter. Baldwin Wallace outscored Saint Vincent 24-15 in the quarter to hand SVC the defeat.

Saint Vincent was limited to shoot just 28.1% (16-57), including shooting 4-15 (26.7%) from the three-point line. The Bearcats also shot 13-23 from the foul line. Baldwin Wallace on the other hand shot 25-67 (37.3%) from the field, including 14-36 (38.9%) from the three-point line. The Yellow Jackets were a strong 11-13 from the foul line in the game as well.

The Bearcats will return to Latrobe for their home opener on Saturday, November 16 when they play host to Marietta. Tip off is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Robert S. Carey Center.
