GROVE CITY, Pa. (Feb. 15)- The Saint Vincent women's swimming team is currently sitting in second place after the second day of the PAC Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by Grove City.
Rachel Hutchinson highlighted the day for the Bearcats, winning the PAC Championship in the 500-yard freestyle event. Hutchinson swam a time of 5:18.40, just under a second faster than Ema Plank of Grove City who finished in second place.
Also, in the 500-yard freestyle event, Sara Alexander placed sixth, swimming a time of 5:30.06 and
Brook McDermott placed ninth (first in the consolation ladder), swimming a time of 5:33.73 for the Bearcats.
Abby Leskovansky recorded Saint Vincent's second-best finish of the night, finishing in second place in the 50-yard freestyle event. Leskovansky swam a time of 24.33 in the event for SVC.
In the 200-yard IM, Saint Vincent had two top-eight finishers as well.
Emma Martz led the way with a third-place finish, swimming a time of 2:16.62. Finishing behind her was
Teresa Grimm, who placed sixth in the finals with a time of 2:18.28.
In the consolation portion of the 200-IM,
Valerie Clabaugh placed 2
nd with a time of 2:24.22 for the Bearcats as well.
The Bearcats concluded the second night with the 200-yard freestyle relay event. SVC finished second in the event, as the team of
Cecilia Hickin,
Emma Morgan,
Lily Holsey, along with McDermott swam a time of 1:40.99 in the event.
The Saint Vincent women currently hold a 9.5 point lead over Westminster for second place.
Day three of the event will begin with prelims tomorrow, Friday, February 16 at the 10 a.m., followed by the finals which kick off at 5:30 p.m.
