GROVE CITY, Pa. (Feb. 17)- The Saint Vincent women's swimming team finished third in the 2023-2024 PAC Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by Grove City.
Rachel Hutchinson was named PAC Women's Swimming Newcomer of the Year at the conclusion of the event.
Hutchinson led the Bearcats in the pool once again on the concluding night of the Championships. Hutchinson won her second PAC Championship of the week, this one coming in the 1650-freestyle event, swimming a time of 18:19.62.
Brook McDermott also competed in the event, finishing in fifth place with a time of 19:16.83 for the Bearcats.
Abby Leskovansky recorded SVC's second-best finish of the night, finishing in third place in the 100-yard freestyle event. Leskovansky swam a time of 54.02 in route to her third-place result. Also, in the 100-free,
Julia Schultz finished in fourth place in the consolation portion of the event, with a time of 1:01.28.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, the Bearcats had the sixth and seventh place finishers.
Lily Holsey finished in sixth with a time of 2:40.56, while
Valerie Clabaugh placed seventh with a time of 2:40.84 to finish just behind Holsey.
Cecilia Hickin placed eighth in the championship portion of the 200-yard backstroke, swimming a time of 2:27.43 for SVC.
In the final individual event of the championship,
Emma Martz finished in third place with a time of 2:19.48 for the Bearcats.
Teresa Grimm won the consolation portion of the event, with a time of 2:31.57.
The team of
Sarah Alexander,
Emma Martz, along with Hutchinson and Leskovansky led the Bearcats to a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay to conclude this year's championship. SVC swam a time of 3:41.92 in the event.
Grove City won the PAC Championship with a point total of 1031.5, while Westminster finished in second place with 659.5 points.
The Bearcats will compete again, next Saturday, February 24, when they travel to Gambier, Ohio to compete in the Kenyon College Fast Chance Invitational to conclude their season.
