LATROBE, Pa. (Mar. 26)- The Saint Vincent men's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 sweep of Mount Aloysius on Tuesday night.

With the win, Saint Vincent (17-7, 8-0 AMCC) locks up the regular season AMCC title and home court advantage throughout the playoffs coming up in two weeks.

The Bearcats defeated the Mounties (8-13, 1-5 AMCC) by set scores of 25-17, 25-17, and 25-18.

Shawn McSwiggen once again led the way for Saint Vincent with a game-high 13 kills, while also recording two blocks as well.
Matthew Minkin recorded double-digit kills as well, recording ten in the win, while also assisting on six kills and picking up eight digs.

Zach Wyant totaled 30 assists, while his brother
Zebadiah Wyant recorded nine kills, nine digs, and three blocks for the Bearcats.

The first few points of the opening set were traded back-and-forth as the set was tied 4-4. Saint Vincent answered with the next three points on two kills from Minkin and a kill from McSwiggen to take a 7-4 lead.

After the Mounties climbed back to tie it at 8-8, the Bearcats went on another run, this one a 5-0 run to take a 13-8 lead. Over the 5-0 run, McSwiggen had a kill and Minkin tallied two service aces for SVC.

The Saint Vincent lead hovered between 3-5 points over the next few points as the Bearcats led 21-17. Mount Aloysius scored another point, before SVC concluded the set with four in a row, two of which came kills from Zeb Wyant, including the final point of the set as SVC took the opening set (25-17) and a 1-0 lead.

The second set was similar to the opening set as Saint Vincent and the Mounties traded the first few points, playing to a 10-10 tie. The Bearcats took the first advantage, scoring five of the next six, five of which came on kills to give Saint Vincent a 15-11 lead.

McSwiggen totaled two kills on the run, while Zeb Wyant and Minkin each tallied a kill as well. The Saint Vincent lead once again was between 4-5 points as the Bearcats found themselves with a 21-17 lead once again.

The Bearcats scored the final four points of the set, ending the set on a kill from
Anthony Ditonto to win the second set for the Bearcats (25-17), taking a 2-0 lead.

The Mounties took a 2-0 lead in the final set, but after Saint Vincent scored the next three to take a 3-2 lead, the Bearcats never lost the lead again.

SVC went another run, this one a 10-5 run to give the Bearcats a 13-7 advantage. Mount Aloysius cut the lead to four at 19-15, but that's the closes they'd get the rest of the way as Saint Vincent closed the set out with a 6-3 spurt, ending the set with three straight points.

Ditonto recorded another kill, followed by a kill from
Tyler Nelson, and service ace from
Josh Havrilla to win the third set (25-18), as the Bearcats completed the sweep.

Saint Vincent led the Mounties in every major statistical category over the course of the win.

The Bearcats will now enjoy the next few days off before traveling to Geneva on Wednesday, April 3 for their regular season finale. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Beaver Falls. SVC will also now host the AMCC Championship Tournament semifinals and finals on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13.
