LATROBE, Pa. (Mar. 26)- The Saint Vincent men's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 sweep of Mount Aloysius on Tuesday night.

With the win, Saint Vincent (17-7, 8-0 AMCC) locks up the regular season AMCC title and home court advantage throughout the playoffs coming up in two weeks.

The Bearcats defeated the Mounties (8-13, 1-5 AMCC) by set scores of 25-17, 25-17, and 25-18.

The first few points of the opening set were traded back-and-forth as the set was tied 4-4. Saint Vincent answered with the next three points on two kills from Minkin and a kill from McSwiggen to take a 7-4 lead.

After the Mounties climbed back to tie it at 8-8, the Bearcats went on another run, this one a 5-0 run to take a 13-8 lead. Over the 5-0 run, McSwiggen had a kill and Minkin tallied two service aces for SVC.

The Saint Vincent lead hovered between 3-5 points over the next few points as the Bearcats led 21-17. Mount Aloysius scored another point, before SVC concluded the set with four in a row, two of which came kills from Zeb Wyant, including the final point of the set as SVC took the opening set (25-17) and a 1-0 lead.

The second set was similar to the opening set as Saint Vincent and the Mounties traded the first few points, playing to a 10-10 tie. The Bearcats took the first advantage, scoring five of the next six, five of which came on kills to give Saint Vincent a 15-11 lead.

McSwiggen totaled two kills on the run, while Zeb Wyant and Minkin each tallied a kill as well. The Saint Vincent lead once again was between 4-5 points as the Bearcats found themselves with a 21-17 lead once again.

The Bearcats scored the final four points of the set, ending the set on a kill from Anthony Ditonto to win the second set for the Bearcats (25-17), taking a 2-0 lead.

The Mounties took a 2-0 lead in the final set, but after Saint Vincent scored the next three to take a 3-2 lead, the Bearcats never lost the lead again.

SVC went another run, this one a 10-5 run to give the Bearcats a 13-7 advantage. Mount Aloysius cut the lead to four at 19-15, but that's the closes they'd get the rest of the way as Saint Vincent closed the set out with a 6-3 spurt, ending the set with three straight points.
