ATLANTA (July 25) – The Saint Vincent College women's basketball team was recognized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) for academic performance for the 2023-24 year.
The WBCA's Academic Top 25 recognizes college basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.
Saint Vincent, coached by Jimmy Petruska, achieved a 3.597 GPA for the 2023-24 academic year and listed as a special mention on the WBCA's Division III Academic Top 25.
It's the latest in a string of academic honors earned by the SVC women's basketball team for the 2023-24 season. In March, four players –
Madison Weber,
Alana Winkler,
Lizzie Bender and
Emily Thompson – were named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators. In June, 11 members of the Bearcat women's basketball team were named to the Presidents' Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll, which recognizes student-athletes who achieved a grade point average of 3.60 or higher during their season of competition.
