Women's track and field competes at Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Jan. 17)- The Saint Vincent women's track and field team opened up their 2025 slate of events, competing at the Youngstown State Collegiate Invitational.
 
Miranda Cincotta had a big day in Ohio for the Bearcats, recording two top ten finishes. In the 800-meter race, Cincotta raced a time of 2:22.65 to finish in ninth place in the event. The time was also a top 40 mark in the event in the NCAA so far this season.
 
She followed that up with a time of 5:14.56 in the mile to finish in eighth. That time was also an impressive top 30 mark in the NCAA in that event this season as well.
 
Grace Neubert was strong for the Bearcats as well, setting a school record in the 5000-meter race. In the 5000-meter race, Neubert won the event and set the record time with a time of 17:56.58 in the nine-runner field. Neubert's time was a top 50 mark in the NCAA so far this season.
 
The Bearcats also set multiple personal bests at the event as well. To begin the afternoon, Amanda Kane set a PR time of 8.63 in the 60-meter prelims. Kiersten Auman also set a PR in the event with a time of 9.02. Gabrielle Dove was the Bearcats top finisher in the event, racing a time of 8.47.
 
Kane also set a PR in the 200-meter race, racing a time of 28.91. Also, in the 200, Miranda Guthrie ran a season best time of 28.55, while Dove was once again the Bearcats top finisher with a time of 28.26, while Caroline Kozera finished just behind Guthrie with a time of 28.60.
 
Kozera also earned a 14th place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, racing a time of 9.99 for SVC.
 
Guthrie followed her time in the 200-meter race, racing to a 14th place, Saint Vincent school record time of 1:04.79. in the 400-meter race.
 
Cassy Lanza added to the Bearcats personal best list as she recorded a PR in the 3000-meter race. She raced a time of 11:13.53 for Saint Vincent to finish in 16th. Laruen Schemmel earned a top 25 finish with a time of 11:53.30.
 
Saint Vincent will return to action next weekend on Saturday, January 25 as they compete in the Muskingum Muskie Meet #2. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
