WINCHESTER, Va. (Nov. 16)- The Saint Vincent wrestling team placed fifth out of 13 teams at the Shenandoah Invitational on Sunday.
Eight Bearcats recorded podium finishes at the tournament.Â
Logan Connolly picked up a first place result for the Bearcats in the 133 lbs. weight class. The freshman opened up with a major decision (13-3) over Heath Burks of Shenandoah. After a bye, he earned a technical fall (16-0), decision (12-5), and another decision victory (8-3) in the championship to win the weight class.
Anthony Orlandini also picked up a first place finish, with his coming in the 149 lbs. weight class. Orlandini opened with a technical fall (19-4) in the first round. He followed with a fall (1:03) and earned a forfeit to head into the semifinals. In the semi's, he won by major decision (16-6), before earning a decision (12-6) in the first place match to win the weight class.
Ryan Yocum added a fifth place finish for Saint Vincent in the 157 lbs. weight class. Yocum opened with a bye, before winning by decision (10-5) in the second round. He dropped his quarterfinal match before earning a major decision (15-4), fall (0:54), and no contest in the fifth place match.
Logan Bechtold finished seventh in the 165 lbs. weight class, earning two wins by technical fall and one by decision for the Bearcats.
Owen Caracciolo also added an eighth place result in the 133 lbs. weight class. Caracciolo earned his victories by major decision and fall.
Additionally,
Jonah McCoy went 3-1 in route to a third place finish in the heavyweight division. McCoy won by twice by fall and once by sudden victory.
Christo Marion finished finished fourth in the 197 lbs. weight class, going 2-2. Marion won by major decision and fall.
Dylan Klim added a seventh place finish in the 125 lbs. weight class, going 3-2. Klim won by major decision and fall.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday, November 22, traveling to the Baldwin Wallace Invitational. The invitational is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.
