YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Feb. 27)- The Saint Vincent women's indoor track and field team recorded a sixth place finish at the PAC Indoor Championship. The finish is the highest finish for the Bearcats in program history.
Saint Vincent broke three school records at the event, with
Gabrielle Dove breaking two and
Samantha Straub breaking one.
Dove broke the Bearcat school record's in both the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Dove raced a record breaking time of 8.25 seconds in the 60-meter, following that up with a record time of 27.45 seconds in the 200-meter. In the 60, Dove placed third in the conference, while also placing in the top-10 (9th) in the 200.
Straub set a Bearcats program record in the triple jump. The freshman recorded a mark of 10.77m to finish as the PAC's Runner-Up in the event.
Also, in the 60-meter dash
Amanda Kane set a personal best time of 8.39 seconds for Saint Vincent, also racing a personal best time of 27.95 seconds in the 200-meter.
Miranda Cincotta added a top-10 (8th place) finish in the 800-meter race. Cincotta raced a season best time of 2:21.78 for Saint Vincent, while
Isabella Snyder raced a personal best time of 2:31.16, beating her previous best by over seven seconds.Â
In the mile event, Saint Vincent set three personal best times, while also recording two top-10 results.
Lily Murphy led the way with a 9th place finish, racing a personal best time of 5:23.14 for the Bearcats. Cincotta placed 10th (5:24.97), while
Grace Scoville (5:45.06) and
Emma Hyder (6:50.16) both raced personal best times in the event as well.
The Bearcats added two more top-10 results in the 3000-meter event.
Grace Neubert placed 4th with a time of 10:31.34, while
Kristen Prince finished in 6th with a season best time of 10:35.03 for the Bearcats.
Mary McConville also raced a personal best time of 14:30.57 in the race.
In the final distance event of the day, Saint Vincent recorded two top-five results. Neubert placed third (17:53.93) and Prince placed 5th (18:07.54), also qualifying for regionals in the event.
To conclude the championship meet, the Bearcats distance medley relay team, raced to a 4th place finish. The regional qualifying team of
Cassy Lanza, Dove, Murphy, and Cincotta raced to a time of 12:52.26, which is also a top-50 time in the country in the event this season.
Additonally, Lanza was named to the PAC's Sportsmanship Team.
SVC will next compete at the AARTFCÂ Indoor Championships Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8 in Ithaca, New York.Â
