GREENVILLE, Pa. (Feb. 6)- The Saint Vincent wrestling team picked up a 43-6 victory in their final Presidents Athletic Conference dual of the season at Thiel.
The Bearcats finish PAC duals with an impressive 3-1 record heading into the PAC Championship in a week and a half. Saint Vincent won nine of the 10 weight classes in Greenville on Thursday night.
At the 125 lbs. weight class, Saint Vincent
Sam Snyder opened the night with a major decision. He defeated EJ McCarth of Thiel by a score of 11-0 to put SVC up 4-0.
Owen Caracciolo followed with the first of two consecutive tech. falls for the Bearcats. Caracciolo picked up a 16-0 victory at 2:40 in the 133 lbs. weight class to put Saint Vincent up 9-0 in the match.
Tyler Clark followed with a 18-1 victory at 141 lbs., as Saint Vincent saw their lead grow to 14-0.
Tyler Debnar picked up SVC's fourth consecutive victory to open the match with a 14-8 decision at 149 lbs. to put the Bearcats lead up to 17-0.
Logan Bechtold followed with an 8-2 decision at 157 lbs. against Landon Mead of Thiel as Saint Vincent pushed their loead to 20-0.Â
Saint Vincent won the next three weight classes as well.
Chase Brandebura secured a forfeit victory at 165 lbs., while
Nathan Barkley continued his impressive freshman campaign with a pin at 1:20 to increase the Bearcats lead to 32-0.
Ryan Weinzen won the third match in a row for SVC with a tech. fall (18-2) win against Logan Groover as the Saint Vincent lead was 37-0.
Thiel picked up their first win of the match at 197 lbs., before
Bradley Miller secured a pin at 2:38 to close the match out and a 43-6 Saint Vincent victory.
The Bearcats will now take the next few days off to prepare for the PAC Championship on Saturday, February 15Â at Waynesburg. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.Â
