CRESSON, Pa. (Sept. 10)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team earned a 5-2 non-conference victory at Mount Aloysius on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bearcats (2-1) picked up wins in two of the three doubles matches to win the doubles point. SVC followed that up with four more wins in singles play to secure the road victory.
In doubles,
Rachel Zgurich and
Sydney McWreath earned a 6-2 victory in the second doubles spot.
Caroline O'Connor and
Rebecca Kurylo picked up a 6-4 victory in third doubles to put Saint Vincent up 1-0 in the match.
In singles play,
Carolina Walters continued her dominant start to the season picking up a 6-2, 6-0 in the top singles spot. O'Connor secured her second victory of the day with a 6-3, 6-1 win in number three singles.
In fourth singles, McWreath won for the second time as well. She earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory for Saint Vincent.
Bella Baumgardner concluded with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-4 win for Saint Vincent in number five singles.
Saint Vincent will now jump into Presidents Athletic Conference play as they take on Washington and Jefferson on Friday, September 12. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
