The Lady Bearcat field hockey team was defeated by a strong College of Wooster squad 7-0 in Ohio.
Wooster jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead just six minutes into play, scoring two goals in a 55-second span. The Scots then closed out the scoring in the first half with a penalty stroke goal with 12 minutes left in the first frame. Over the opening 35 minutes, Wooster out-shot the Lady Bearcats 18-1, with SVC goalie
Megan Vargo making nine first half saves.
The Scots made the score 4-0 just 10 seconds into the second half, before closing the scoring out by tallying three goals in a 14-minute span, with the final tally coming with 13 minutes left.
The Lady Bearcats made one last ditch effort to find the scoreboard, tallying four shots on goal in the final 10 minutes of play, but were unable to avoid the shutout.
Vargo finished with 11 saves on the afternoon, as the Scots ended with a 26-7 advantage in shots and 18-8 advantage in penalty corners.
Saint Vincent (3-12) will return to action on Tuesday afternoon, wrapping up the home portion of its 2010 schedule with a 4pm contest with Wilson College on the Saint Vincent Turf.
