The Lady Bearcats lost a close 2-1 decision at Oberlin College on the road to open the 2010 season.
Both of Oberlin's goals came via penalty stroke, as the Lady Bearcats owned a 19-9 margin in shots for the game, including an 11-4 advantage in shots on goal.
The hosts got on the board early, with Karin Yoshida scoring on the first penalty stroke of the game just over four minutes into play.
Saint Vincent regrouped, as
Ashley Williams scored the team's first goal of the year to tie the game at 1-1 on an unassisted tally with 10 minutes left in the opening half.
The score remained deadlocked at 1-1 until the game's 67th minute, when Oberlin's Gillian Winbourn scored the game-winner on her team's second stroke attempt of the afternoon.
The Lady Bearcats (0-1) will now face a 10-day layoff, before returning to action on Saturday, Sept. 11th at Virginia's Bridgewater College.
