The Saint Vincent field hockey team dropped a 1-0 decision to Transylvania University in the opening game of a tournament hosted by Earlham College (IN).

Sydney Katz's goal midway through the first half proved to be the difference maker for Transylvania, as the Bearcats were unable to muster a comeback.

Transylvania kept continued offensive pressure on the Bearcats, posting 18 shots for the game, including 15 in the second half, but the SVC defense held strong, as Bridget Harner posted eight saves to take the hard-luck loss.  The Bearcat defense also withstood 13 Transylvania penalty corners.

The loss drops SVC to 0-2 on the year, and the Bearcats will play their third game in as many days on Saturday, facing Trine University in the second game of the Earlham tournament beginning at 11am.
