Box Score

The Bearcat field hockey team defeated Trine University 2-0 in the consolation game of the Earlham College Invitational in Richmond, IN.

Saint Vincent got off to a strong start, with Kayla Howard scoring her first goal of the season just 2:20 into play.  The Bearcats continued the offensive pressure, out-shooting Trine 13-0 in the first half and taking 10 penalty corners, but were unable to add an insurance tally before the intermission.

The persistence on offense finally paid off again with 23 minutes left to play, when Jess Drury scored her first career goal, assisted by Howard, to give SVC a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore Kayla Howard opened the scoring for the Bearcats in the game's fifth minute, before teammate Jessica Drury added an insurance marker midway through the second half to seal the win, as the Bearcats failed to allow a shot for the entire 70 minutes of play.

Following the game, Drury and junior goalie Bridget Harner were named to the Earlham All-Tournament Team.

After playing three games in as many days, the Bearcats will enjoy a weeklong layoff before returning to action on Saturday, when they travel to central Virginia to take part in a two-day tournament hosted by Bridgewater College.
