LANCASTER, Pa. (Nov. 19) - The Saint Vincent College Bearcat swim teams wrapped up a busy weekend of competition at the three-day Franklin & Marshall Invitational, hosted by Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa. The meet annually showcases the talent of some of the best swim teams in the northeast.
Friday, November 16th
The Saint Vincent Bearcat swim teams arrived in Lancaster, PA, to compete in the three-day Franklin & Marshall Invitational Swim Meet, hosted by Franklin & Marshall College. The meet annually showcases the talent of some of the best swim teams in the northeast.
The women's team opened the weekend with a strong performance in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
Maddie Bartrug led the quartet of
Samantha Mears,
Claire Kenna, and
Ciara Lewis to a second place-overall finish by posting a time of 1:39.05.
Marion D'Aurora would come in ninth place in the 1650 Freestyle, clocking in at 18:53.17.
On the men's side, the quartet of
Zach Baum,
Ethan Yant,
John Martin, and
Jacob Davis finished in fifth place, with a strong time of 1:25.93.
Kevin Martin came in 10th place in the 1650 Freestyle, touching the wall at 17:33:61.
Saturday, November 17th
The second session would see Lewis finish in seventh place in the 50 Freestyle, with Kenna not far behind in eighth; with times of 24.89 and 24.96, respectively.
In the 200 Freestyle, Bartrug would attain a strong fourth place finish (1:57.34).
The men began the session with a fifth place finish in the 200 Medley Relay; as Davis,
Michael Marinchak, Baum, and J. Martin would clock in at 1:35.15.
Davis would rocket to the finish of the 50 Freestyle, touching the wall in 20.74, which gave him a strong third place finish.
In the 100 Fly, Baum would find victory, besting the field with a time of 50.42.
The 200 Freestyle found Davis once again putting together a strong performance, finishing as the runner-up with with a time of 1:42.42.
Sunday, November 18th
In third and final session, Lewis would take seventh in the 100 Freestyle, touching the wall at 54.46. Bartrug would finish close behind in ninth (54.10).
The quartet of Bartrug, D'Aurora, Kenna, and Lewis finished the 400 Freestyle Relay in seventh place, clocking in at 3:39.28.
In the Men's 100 Freestyle, Davis would post a record breaking performance. His time of 44.56 would not only set a new meet record, but it would secure him an NCAA B cut time.
The men would conclude the meet with a sixth place finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Baum, Yant, J. Martin, and Davis would clock in at 3:11.86.
Overall, the women finished 8
th out of 13 other women's teams, scoring a total of 412 points. The men finished 8
th out of 11 other men's teams, scoring 591 points.
Both Bearcat teams will return to compete against Washington & Jefferson College on December 1
st. The home PAC meet at Resnik Pool will begin at 1 pm.
