Women's indoor track and field competes at SPIRE Indoor Games and Boston Valentine Invitational

GENEVA, Ohio/BOSTON, Mass. (Feb. 15)- The Saint Vincent women's indoor track and field team competed at the SPIRE Indoor Games on Saturday in Geneva, Ohio, while Grace Neubert and Miranda Cincotta ran in the loaded field at the Boston University Valentine Invitational.

In the loaded field at the Boston Valentine Invitational, Grace Neubert set the Saint Vincent school record in the 5K. She raced a record time of 17:47.15, breaking her own record (17:56.58) by over nine seconds. Miranda Cincotta ran in the mile at Boston as well, racing a time of 5:11.60 for the Bearcats.

At SPIRE, the Bearcats day was highlighted by freshman Gabrielle Dove breaking her own school record in the 60-meter dash. Dove raced a program record time of 8.40 seconds in the event to break her previous record of 8.44 that she set earlier this season at Youngstown State in December.

SVC set multiple personal bests at the event as well. In the 200-meter race, Dove followed up her record time in the 60 by running a personal best time of 27.67 to finish 38th in the field of 61. Caroline Kozera finished just ahead of Dove, racing a time of 27.60 to finish 37th for Saint Vincent. Amanda Kane also ran a personal best time of 28.76, breaking her previous personal best time of 28.91 in the race.

In the distance events, Lily Murphy had a solid performance in the 800-meter race. Murphy raced a time of 2:31.89 to record a 34th place finish in the field of 72. Cassy Lanza finished just behind Murphy, racing a personal best time of 2:32.29 to beat her previous mark by one tenth of a second. Grace Scoville raced to a time of 2:41.19, while Isabella Snyder ran a PR time of 2:38.54, breaking her previous best mark by just under four seconds.

In the mile race, Murphy finished 31st in the field of 56, racing a personal best time of 5:35.50 for Saint Vincent. Scoville also ran a PR in the race with a time of 5:45.65, while Lanza finished 36th with a result of 5:39.62 in the same race. Emma Hyder also ran a personal best for SVC, racing a time of 6:58.32 to break her previous PR by over four seconds.

Kristen Prince added a fourth place finish in the field of 31 in the 5K, racing a time of 18:32.87 for Saint Vincent. Lauren Schemmel also ran in the same race, racing a time of 20:46.12.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Kiersten Auman set a PR, racing a time of 10.99 seconds for Saint Vincent, while Kozera sprinted to a 9.76 second finish to place 15th in the 36-runner field.

The Bearcats will take the next couple of weeks off, before returning to action to compete in the Presidents Athletic Conference Indoor Championships at Youngstown State on Thursday, February 27. The championships are set to begin at 10:30 a.m. in Youngstown, Ohio.
