Bearcats remain winless in PAC

BOX SCORE

Despite a five-run rally in the 9th inning, the Bearcats lost a road game to Grove City, 9-7, to drop to 0-4 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

The Wolverines took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second thanks to a 2-run double by Josh Sacks, then added another run an inning later.  In the top of the seventh, down 4-0, the Bearcats got on the board, when Joe Aul scored on a throwing error and Steve Bayko drove home a run with a sacrifice fly.

However, the hosts then tallied five runs on six hits in the bottom of the 7th, opening the lead to 9-2.

In the 9th, the Bearcats stormed back.  Joey Fearer hit a 2-run single to make it 9-4, then Brad Burkardt later drove home Fearer with a single.  After an RBI single by AJ Kavinsky made the score 9-6, Saint Vincent added its seventh run on an error, and had the potential tying run on first with just one out, but were unable to keep the inning alive.

Gary Gerhardt started on the mound for SVC and took the loss, working 5.1 innings and striking out four.  Kyle Silk was the winning pitcher for Grove City.

With the loss, Saint Vincent is now 8-12 overall on the year.  Next up is a road trip to Kentucky for three weekend games at Thomas More College.
