Visiting Waynesburg University scored 10 runs - nine unearned - over the sixth and seventh innings to come back and defeat the Bearcats 15-7 in Saint Vincent baseball's 2011 home finale.

Trailing 6-4 after five innings of play, the Yellow Jackets took advantage of three Saint Vincent errors in the sixth and seventh to turn the two-run deficit into an eight-run lead and win the opening game of the team's three-game weekend series.

The Bearcats fell behind 4-2 in the top of the third, but mounted a four-run rally in the bottom half of the inning to take a 6-4 lead.  Zach Bush singled to lead off the bottom of the third, moved to second on a Nolan Russell double, and then crossed the plate on a single from AJ KavinskyBrad Burkardt followed with a bunt single to load the bases, before Joe Aul reached on a fielder's choice.    Zack Galasso would then blast a two-run double off the top of the fence in center to give SVC a 5-4 lead, before Erik Fichter followed with an RBI ground out to give SVC it's fourth run of the inning, as it plated Aul.

Waynesburg then countered with a six-run sixth inning, scoring its first two runs on a Bearcat throwing error with the bases loaded.  Mike Neckerman would drive home two more on a double off the fence in center, before pinch hitter Adam Rose closed out the inning's scoring with a two-run single to center, making the score 10-6 in favor of the visitors.

The Yellow Jackets again took advantage of the porous SVC defense in the seventh, scoring four runs on two hits and two SVC errors to go in front 14-6.

Waynesburg scored its final run of the day in the top of the eighth, going up 15-6, with the Bearcats scoring their seventh run of the game in the bottom of the ninth, when Brad Burkardt singled home Bush, who reached on a one-out walk.

Saint Vincent managed 13 hits on the day, with seven different players recording at least one base knock.  Hustava led the way, going 4-for-5 with two RBIs, while Aul, Kavinsky, and Burkardt each tallied two hits.  The Bearcats managed baserunners in eight of the nine innings, but the team stranded a season-high 15 runners on base.

Max Henry, the reigning NCAA Division-III Pitcher of the Week, started on the mound for SVC and went four innings, allowing four runs on six hits, with seven strikeouts.  Jeremy Mains, who came on in relief of Henry in the fifth, took the loss, giving up six runs, all unearned, in two innings.

Waynesburg tallied 14 hits on the day, led by Cory Goeggleman, who went 4-for-6, while Anthony DeFillippo had three hits in five at bats.  Rob Baumgartel earned the win in relief for the Yellow Jackets, working five innings and giving up one run on four hits, with six strikeouts.

The Bearcats (15-23) will return to action on Sunday afternoon, wrapping up the 2011 season with a doubleheader at Waynesburg (13-23).
