The Bearcats' five-game winning streak came to a close in the final day of the Spring Break Trip to Florida, as Juniata College defeated Saint Vincent by a score of 9-4.
The Golden Eagles scored in the top of the first, but SVC came back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead, thanks to RBI singles by
Brad Burkardt and
Zach Bush. The lead was short-lived, however, as Juniata added two runs in the third and three more in the 4th inning to pull away from the Bearcats.
Gary Gerhardt worked into the sixth inning and took the loss, while
Jared Haller worked four innings of relief, striking out four.
Offensively, Burkardt went 4-for-5 and drove in two runs, while
Grant Krally had two hits and scored twice.
With the loss, Saint Vincent completed its Florida trip with a record of 5-1. The team will now return to Pennsylvania and will play a road game at Mount Aloysius College on Wednesday at 3PM.
