Mike Hustava, who had four hits on the day, added an RBI double later in the inning to give a three-run cushion to starting pitcher
Max Henry.
In the fourth, Bearcat catcher
Erik Fichter hit a solo home run to right center to extend the lead to 4-0.
A double by
Alonzo Vazquez in the fifth drove home
Brad Burkardt, who had led off the inning with a single, making it 5-0.
After the hosts scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, the Bearcats answered back in the top of the 7th, with Hustava singling home
Zack Galasso.
Up 6-3 in the eight, the Bearcats added a pair of insurance runs -- one on a triple by Kozusko and one on a single by Galasso, to make it 8-3.
After the Mounties closed the gap to 8-5 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 8th, they threatened again in the ninth, scoring once off SVC reliever

Jared Haller then came out of the bullpen, threw one pitch, and recorded a save, getting a ground out to end the game.
Henry improved to 2-0, working 6.1 innings, scattering five hits and striking out four.
Along with Hustava's four hits, Burkardt and Galasso had three hits each, part of an 18-hit attack by the Bearcats.
