Jared Haller worked all nine innings in a 2-1 win, as Joey Fearer's bunt single gave the Bearcats the victory over Washington & Jefferson in the second half of a twinbill.  The Presidents won the other contest by an 8-3 score.

W&J's David Trushel held SVC hitless through four innings in game one.  Zack Galasso broke up the no-hitter in the fifth, but by that point the hosts had built a 5-0 lead.

The Bearcats entered the final inning down 8-0 but rallied for three runs on four hits to make it 8-3.

Jeremy Mains took the loss, working 5.1 innings, while Galasso had two hits for Saint Vincent.

In game two, Haller and W&J's Randall Risch were both strong on the mound.  Neither team scored until the top of the fifth, when the Bearcats' Grant Krally was hit by a pitch to lead off.  Steve Bayko then moved Krally to second with a sacrifice bunt, and Nick Beamenderfer hit a chopper to the mound that was misplayed, and the error put runners at the corners.  AJ Kavinsky then hit a sacrifice fly that scored Krally, giving SVC a 1-0 lead, despite the fact that Risch kept a no-hitter intact through that point.

Haller received support from his defense, and continued to keep the Presidents off balance with a mix of fastballs and curveballs, and the score remained 1-0.

In the seventh, Risch completed a 7-inning no-hitter, but W&J was still down a run going to their final at bat.  However, a single, a sacrifice, and an RBI single by Kyle McLain tied the game at one, sending it to extra frames.

After neither team scored in the 8th, Galasso led off the top of the 9th by drawing a walk.  A wild pitch moved him to second, and a sacrifice bunt by Mike Hustava moved Galasso to third.  After a pitching change, Alonzo Vazquez hit a line drive right back at Brian O'Neill on the mound, and O'Neill made a great defensive play to record the second out.  Fearer then stepped to the plate and caught the defense off guard, laying down a perfect bunt single that scored Galasso with the eventual game-winner.

Haller then returned to the mound and finished things for the Bearcats, as the team earned the doubleheader split.

On the day, Haller gave up just six hits, walked one and struck out seven.

Saint Vincent is now 14-5 on the year overall, 4-3 in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.  The Presidents (12-2, 3-1) will visit Latrobe on Sunday to complete the three-game series with a 9-inning contest.
