Bearcat hitters had another outstanding day at the plate as they pounded out 18 hits on their way to a 13-2 win over Trine University of Indiana, while newcomer Jared Haller earned the win on the mound.

Saint Vincent scored early and often tallying eight runs in the second, chasing Thunder starter Korbin Baird.  Highlighting the second among the offensive outburst were Jack Shaffer, designated hitter Alonzo Vazquez, and Andrew Kozusko

Shaffer singled twice as did Vasquez while Kozusko was credited with a single and double in the second frame.  After two innings the Bearcats led 9-0 having scored once in the first with Brad Burkardt doubling to open the home half of the first, then eventually coming in to score as a result of a sacrifice bunt by Zach Bush and an RBI ground out by Zack Galasso

SVC scored three times in the fourth to open what would become an insurmountable 12-1 lead after four innings.

Southpaw Jared Haller went seven complete innings to earn the win, scattering 10 hits, walking just one and striking out four. Haller had the Thunder hitters off balance throughout his seven innings, and got some help from the defense - himself included - thanks to a pair of double plays.  In the second inning, he got out of a bases loaded jam when he fielded a grounder hit right back to him, threw home for one out, then catcher Steve Bayko fired to first to end the inning.

Paul Kubeja and Alex Kozusko chipped in an inning each to complete the victory.  Kubeja worked a scoreless eighth and Kozusko closed things out facing the final five batters for Trine in the ninth.

The Thunder used a total of six pitchers on the afternoon, and the Bearcat victory was never in doubt throughout the late innings as Trine was unable to bring a run across in the late going.  For the second consecutive game all nine Saint Vincent starters hit safely.   Andrew Kozusko went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI, while Vazquez was 3-5 and drove in five runs.  Galasso, Burkardt and Jack Shaffer each had a pair of hits.  Grant Krally, the team's all-time leader in hit by pitches, added another to his tally, the 18th of his career.

The Bearcats will take on Cazenovia in Auburndale, FL on Tuesday with the game starting at 9 AM.
