Max Henry struck out nine batters in seven innings of work, as the Bearcats won their third straight with an 8-1 victory over Cazenovia College.
The Bearcats went to work offensively in the top of the second. After
Andrew Kozusko and
Mike Hustava each drew a walk,
Jack Shaffer laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners ahead.
Alonzo Vazquez, fresh off a 5 RBI performance the day before, singled home both runners for what would prove to be the winning runs.
In the third,
Nick Beamenderfer doubled to lead off, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Zack Galasso to make it 3-0.
Meanwhile, Henry was solid on the hill, striking out four straight at one point with a mix of curveballs and fastballs, the latter clocked above 86 mph on the radar gun.
Saint Vincent opened the advantage with a five-run 6th inning,
Grant Krally had a run-scoring single, Beamenderfer added a 2-run single, Galasso had an RBI single and another run scored on a wild pitch.
Henry worked the first seven innings for the win, giving up just two walks and an unearned run, while holding the Wildcats to just three hits.
Paul Kubeja worked two scoreless innings to close the game, striking out two.
The Bearcats are now 3-0 on the season and will have Wednesday off before returning to action on Thursday against Northland College at 10:30AM.
