The La Roche College Redhawks shut down the Saint Vincent offense, winning a non-conference game by a score of 7-1 over the Bearcats.

AJ Kavinsky and Jordan Britcher walked to lead off the top of the first for SVC, then each moved up 90 feet after a sacrifice bunt by Brad Burkardt.  After a walk to Zack Galasso, Erik Fichter drew the fourth walk of the inning, giving the visiting Bearcats a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third, the Redhawks had a runner at first that appeared to be erased on a grounder to Burkardt, who stepped on second and threw to first.  However, the ruling was made that he failed to touch second on his way by the bag.  The next batter singled home the runner to tie the game, and another single later in the inning brought home what would eventually be the winning run.

The hosts later added four runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Saint Vincent managed just three hits in the game - doubles by Jack Shaffer and Burkardt, and a single by Mike Hustava.

Defensively, the Bearcats recorded three double plays.

On the mound, Jeremy Mains worked the first three innings and took the loss, giving up just one earned run while striking out three.  By design, the Bearcats changed pitchers virtually every inning the rest of the way.  Mike Tedesco pitched a solid inning, facing just three batters, getting two groundouts and a strikeout.  Kyle Anderson made his collegiate debut and pitched one scoreless inning as well.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, hosting Thiel College in a key conference doubleheader at 1PM at Bearcat Ballfield.
