The Saint John Fisher Cardinals defeated the Saint Vincent baseball team by a score of 12-4 in Winter Haven, Florida, avenging an extra-innings loss to the Bearcats last season.

Nick Flemister hit a home run to right field in the top of the first, and it would prove to be the game-winning hit for SJF.

The Cardinals added a run in the second, then tallied three in the fourth and four more in the fifth.  The lead eventually grew to 12-0, as the Bearcats struggled at the plate against two-time All-American pitcher Justin D'Amato.

SVC was unable to generate any runs until the bottom of the 8th inning.  With two out, Joe Simsic singled to left, then moved to second when Luke Fox hit a grounder to third that was misplayed, allowing Fox to beat the throw.  Jon White then doubled to right center, clearing the bases.  Tyler Frankel, making his first varsity appearance at the plate, singled home White for the Bearcats' third run.  After a single by Ben Webb, Jordan Britcher singled home Frankel for the Bearcats' final run.

Webb was the bright spot at the plate for SVC, as he went 3-for-4 against his former teammates.  Webb transferred to SVC from Saint John Fisher after the 2013 season.

Freshman Greg Martin (0-1) worked into the 6th inning and took the loss on the hill.

Saint Vincent is now 2-3 on the season and will wrap up the Florida trip on Saturday morning at 10:30, facing the Houghton College Highlanders.  SVC and Houghton were once conference rivals in the NAIA.
