BOX SCORE

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (April 9) - The Bearcats completed the season sweep against Geneva with a 12-7 Presidents' Athletic Conference win at 33rd Street Field.

The win improves the Saint Vincent baseball team to 10-14 on the season and 5-6 in the PAC, good for fifth place. The Golden Tornadoes fall to 7-18 overall, 3-9 in the league.

The Bearcats built a 12-0 lead through six innings. Two runs were scored in the second when Greg Martin drew a lead-off walk and Hunter Williams reached on an error by the left fielder. Both players advanced on a wild pitch, leaving runners at second and third with no outs. Tanner Master delivered a two-out single to left to drive home both runners and put SVC ahead.

Saint Vincent scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning to stretch the lead to 5-0. Ben Webb and Martin were hit by pitches to lead off the inning, but Webb was later erased on a fielder's choice. A two-run double by Joey Fearer and an RBI double by Master capped the scoring in the frame.

In the top of the fifth inning, SVC blew the game open with six runs on just two hits. With one out, Vince Murphy walked, stole second and went to third on a balk. Webb brought him home with an RBI single and quickly stole second. Martin then drew a walk and Williams singled to center, loading the bases. Fearer then walked and Michael Vrbanic was hit by a pitch to bring in runs. A sac fly by Master scored Williams and Vrbanic later stole second. The final two runs of the inning scored when Brendan Hoffer reached on an error by the shortstop.

In the sixth, Williams hit the Bearcats first home run of the season to score SVC's lone run.

Geneva tried to mount a rally with four runs in the seventh, one in the eighth and two in the ninth, but SVC closed the door on the victory.

Starter Michael Patsch earned the win, tossing 6.1 innings and scattering 11 hits with four earned runs and three strike outs with two walks. Tyler Frankel worked 1.1 innings of relief, surrendering five hits, two walks and an earned run. Dustin Welsh closed the door with a scoreless inning of relief, facing one over the minimum with a hit batter and three ground outs.
