BOX SCOREThe Bearcats outscored Thomas More 10-1 over the final four innings, but it wasn't enough to overcome an early deficit, as Saint Vincent lost 15-10 on the road in Kentucky.
The host Saints hit three home runs in the early innings, building a 14-0 lead by the end of the fifth inning.
TMC starter Vic Newberry worked the first five scoreless innings, but was lifted at that point, and the Bearcat bats then started to bounce back.
Hunter Williams,
Matt Loftis and
Collin Laguzza each drove home runs as SVC cut the margin to 14-3.
After the Saints added a run in the bottom of the sixth, SVC added a run in the 7th on an RBI single by
Tanner Master. In the 8th, the Bearcats added six runs, with Master supplying a two-run double as one of four SVC hits in the inning. However, the Saints' Ken Ruberg shut down SVC in the 9th to end the comeback.
With the loss, the Bearcats are now 11-10 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while Thomas More improves to 12-9. Saint Vincent will face first-place Washington & Jefferson College on Saturday for a doubleheader in Washington, then in Latrobe for a single game on Sunday.
