After carrying a 5-3 lead into a rain delay in the bottom of the 6th, the Bearcats gave up three runs in the bottom of the 7th to fall to Washington & Jefferson, 6-5, in game one of a crucial conference twinbill.  Game two was also won by the Presidents, 8-2.

AJ Kavinsky and Joey Fearer each doubled to lead off the game for SVC, then Ben Webb made it a 2-0 game with a single before the first out was recorded.

A two-out single in the 2nd by Vince Murphy, followed by a Collin Laguzza double, made it 3-0 Bearcats after two innings.

In the third, Fearer and Webb singled, then Hunter Williams laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners ahead with one out.  Greg Martin singled home Fearer, making the score 4-0.

After W&J cut the gap to 4-3 against SVC starter Mike Cramer, the Bearcats got a run back in the 5th.  Webb doubled to lead off, then moved to third on a single by Williams.  Martin grounded into a double play, but Webb scored to make it 5-3.

Martin came on in relief of Cramer in the bottom of the fifth and got a double play ball to end a W&J threat.  In the bottom of the 6th, rains came and forced a 45-minute delay, but Martin returned to get out of the inning.

In the bottom of the 7th, however, the Presidents tallied three runs, with a walkoff single with the bases loaded ending the game.

Game two remained a scoreless tie into the bottom of the fifth, when W&J tallied four runs on four hits. The Bearcats fought back with a pair of runs in the top of the 6th, when Williams was hit by a pitch then moved to third on a double by Jordan Britcher.  Both runners then scored on a single by Tanner Master.

However, the Presidents added four more runs in the bottom half of the inning to put the game out of reach.

The Bearcats are now 17-21 overall, 11-12 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while W&J improves to 21-2 in the PAC (27-12 overall).

Saint Vincent will wrap up its season on Sunday at 1PM at Bearcat Ballfield.
