BOX SCOREÂ The Bearcat baseball team was unable to hold an early 7-2 lead, falling to Mount Aloysius College by a score of 12-10 on the road at Point Stadium in Johnstown.
Down 2-0 in the second, SVC got a leadoff triple from
Eddie Kilkeary, who then scored on a
Chris Winkler single to tie the game. Â SVC went in front when
Tyler Frankel tripled home Winkler.
The lead increased to 6-2 in the third. Â
Aaron Burger singled with one out then moved to second on a
Ben Webb single. Â Kilkeary singled home Burger, and Webb scored when Winkler's ground ball was misplayed by the Mounties' pitcher. Â Frankel added his second triple in as many innings, driving home Winkler and Kilkeary, giving SVC a four-run lead.
Another SVC triple, this one by
John Malone in the 5th, scored Winkler to make the score 7-2.
However, the Mounties then stormed back, hitting three home runs in the next three innings. Â The Bearcats scored one run each in the 7th, 8th and 9th innings, but it wasn't enough, falling by a score of 12-10.
Michael Patsch started for SVC on the mound, working 5 innings and yielding four earned runs. Â
Kevin Proctor (1-1) took the loss in relief.
Each team had 16 hits on the day, and SVC was led by Webb, Kilkeary and Frankel with three hits each. Â
Dylan Kugler and Winkler each had two hits. Â
Saint Vincent is now 5-5 on the season and will travel west on Route 30 on Thursday afternoon (March 19) for a 3PM matchup against Pitt-Greensburg. Â Â Â
