BOX SCOREPHOTO GALLERYA late rally erased a 1-0 Bearcat lead, as Neumann University defeated Saint Vincent by a score of 3-1 in Auburndale, FL.
SVC starter
Michael Patsch worked 7+ innings of 2-hit baseball, ending up with a no-decision. Â
Patsch worked three perfect innings to start the game before the Bearcats manufactured a run in the top of the fourth. Â
Chris Winkler singled to lead off, then was replaced by
Ben Webb at first, after Webb grounded into a fielder's choice. Â
TJ Kuny then singled to right, moving Webb to third. Â
Hunter Williams reached on a fielder's choice that erased Kuny, but allowed Webb to score.
Patsch yielded his first hit to lead off the fourth, a double by Kye Williams, but got out of trouble to maintain the lead. Â A leadoff walk and a throwing error put another runner at second to start the fifth, but Patsch again worked his way out the jam to keep the one-run lead.
The game stayed that way into the 8th, when Neumann got a leadoff walk, and Patsch was replaced by
Cooper Ayres on the mound. Â After a walk put runners at first and second, a wild pitch advanced both 90 feet. Â A sacrifice fly tied the game, and Neumann took the lead on a Williams double off new pitcher
John Malone. Â Another run scored on an error, making it 3-1.
Ayres took the loss for the Bearcats.
At the plate, the Bearcats had 7 hits, as Kuny, Malone and Kugler each had two, while Winkler had one. Â
Saint Vincent returns to action on Tuesday in Winter Haven, FL, facing Aurora University (IL) at 2:30PM. Â
