Trine defeats Bearcats, 5-3


BOX SCORE

The Trine Thunder defeated Saint Vincent by a score of 5-3 in Winter Haven, FL.

The game was scoreless into the third inning, when the Thunder scored an unearned run to take the lead. 

SVC tied the game in the fourth, when Grant Krally singled, moved to second on a wild pitch, then scored on a single by Tanner Master

Trine added two more unearned runs in the sixth, then manufactured a run in the seventh to make it 4-1.  But in the bottom of the 7th, Vince Murphy led off with a single, then moved to third on a double by Geo MuzikaAJ Kavinsky then grounded out, scoring Murphy.  Fearer then singled to left, scoring Muzika.  After a pair of walks, SVC was unable to score, stranding three runners, and Trine went on to the win.

Jared Haller took the loss on the mound, giving up just one earned run in 7 innings for SVC.  Eric Reitz yielded one run in 1.2 innings of relief.

Krally and Muzika each had two hits on the day for Saint Vincent (0-2).

Edward Tomich worked six innings and earned the win for Trine, while Jordan Baer and Andrew DeGood each had two hits.  DeGood played excellent defense as well, robbing the Bearcats of hits on a pair of plays.

Saint Vincent will face St. John Fisher on Tuesday at 12Noon.  The game will be broadcast, picked up in progress at the conclusion of Tuesday's softball games, which begin at 9AM and 11AM.
