The Washington & Jefferson College Presidents defeated Saint Vincent by a score of 8-4 to take the season series by a two-games-to-one margin.
Brian O'Neill worked eight strong innings for the Presidents, giving up five hits.
Alex Kozusko (2-2), making his first start of the year, yielded four runs (two earned) over the first five innings to take the loss.
W&J scored twice in the home half of the third, and later extended the lead to 4-0 after five innings.
SVC got a run back in the sixth when
Grant Krally singled home
AJ Kavinsky, who had led off with a walk.
Later, down 6-1, SVC scored on a squeeze bunt by
Gary Gerhardt that brought home
Andrew Kozusko. The Bearcats added two runs in the ninth with
Michael Vrbanic at the plate - one on a wild pitch and the other on a groundout - but it wasn't enough.
SVC is now 9-4 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, remaining in first place in the loss column. W&J is now 14-6 in the PAC.
The Bearcats will be off until Tuesday, when they travel to Grove City College in a crucial game at 4PM. The team then hosts Bethany College in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 1PM.
