The Bearcats and the Bethany Bison split a doubleheader at Bearcat Ballfield, with SVC winning 10-8 in game one before falling 8-7 in game two.

Bethany opened a 4-0 lead off SVC starter Jared Haller through the top of the fourth inning in the opener, but SVC saved its best at bats for the latter part of the game.

In the bottom of the fourth, Joey Fearer doubled to center to lead off, then Andrew Kozusko followed by getting hit by a pitch - the first of three times it happened on the afternoon.  Jordan Britcher moved both runners up with a groundout.  Tanner Master then grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Fearer.  Later in the inning, AJ Kavinsky singled home Kozusko to make the score 4-2.

After Bethany increased the lead to 7-2 in the fifth, the Bearcats stormed back in the bottom half of the inning.

With two outs, Fearer singled to center to start the rally.  Kozusko followed with a grounder that took a high hop on the edge of the infield grass and caromed over the head of the second baseman for a single.  Britcher and Master then each drew walks, the latter bringing home Fearer.  After a pitching change, Nick Beamenderfer drove home a run with a single that made it 7-4. Kavinsky then followed with a two-run single...that never left the infield.  Kavinsky's grounder came on a 3-2 count, and Beamenderfer was already on the move to second when the ball was hit.  He beat the throw to second.  Britcher scored easily from third, while Master never slowed down after breaking on the pitch, coming around from second to make it 7-6.

SVC reliever Chris Storm shut down the Bison in the top of the sixth, and the Bearcats completed the comeback in the bottom of the inning.  Brad Burkardt walked then moved to second on a wild pitch.  With one out, Fearer also drew a walk, then Kozusko singled home Burkardt to tie the game.  After Britcher walked, Master provided the eventual game-winning RBI with a single, then Beamenderfer drove home two more runs with a single that made it 10-7.

The Bison got one run back in the seventh, but it wasn't enough.

Storm (2-0) got the win, working 2.1 innings of relief, giving up no earned runs.  Beamenderfer was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in, while Kavinsky went 2-for-5 and drove in three runs.  Fearer and Kozusko each added two hits.

In game two, the visitors again got off to the early lead, scoring twice in the second off SVC starter Max Henry.  SVC then tallied four runs in the bottom of the inning, with Britcher and Master each driving in a run, while Beamenderfer had a two-run single, making the score 4-2.

However, in the fifth inning, the Bison chased Henry and also scored off reliever Eamon Kelly (0-1), eventually scoring six runs in the inning to take an 8-4 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, Kozusko was beaned to lead off, then Britcher followed with a single.  With two outs, Kavinsky then drove both home with a double to make the score 8-6.  Vince Murphy then singled home Kavinsky to make it 8-7.

Later, in the bottom of the seventh, SVC loaded the bases with one out after a hit by pitch (Grant Krally) and a a pair of walks.  However, Zac Edmiston then shut the door on the Bearcats, preserving the 8-7 Bison victory.

Saint Vincent is now 11-5 in the PAC, in front by one game in the loss column.

The Bearcats return to action on Saturday as they start a 3-game series on the road against Thomas More College in Kentucky.
