Corcordia entered the game with a 5-0 record, scoring 58 runs in five games and in search of their 22nd straight winning season. They got to SVC starter
Steve Janik for a pair of unearned runs in the first then added to their lead, taking an 8-0 advantage after three innings.
Down 12-0 in the bottom of the fourth, SVC got a spark from
Luke Fox, who doubled to lead off then scored on an RBI single by
Aaron Burger. Burger later scored on a single by
Joe Simsic.
SVC received good relief work from
Luke Spisak and
Brian Shaffer, as Spisak worked a scoreless fifth inning and Shaffer worked 2/3 of an inning, giving up no runs.
Burger and
Chris Winkler each had two hits for the Bearcats.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Monday at 11:30AM, facing Neumann University in Auburndale.
